MONDAY 14TH JULY - colour

For what seems like an eternity there has been a layer of thick cloud over Cornwall bringing drizzle, hard rain, sea mist and just a layer of gloomy grey murk. There has been a need for cheer so these nasturtiums have done the job with their bright cheery colours and smiling faces. It is impossible to feel gloomy with these vibrant, vivid colours just outside my window.

It is quite a show.

I've always loved nasturtiums but had forgotten how pretty they are when you really look closely at the petals. Beautiful shots!

Fantastic nasturtiums. They were always the seeds we were given to plant as children - presumably because they were fairly bomb proof and easy to grow.

Could really do with some of that fantastic colour right now. It's been another bleak day.

Do you know we eat their leaves in sandwiches, a salad sandwich with a leaf of the nasturtium, just one or two gives a lovely "bitey-zingy" sort of flavor.

Such a beautiful flower, we have had some light rain showers, just enough to save the crops that had begun to die in places...the bit of rain has freshened everything up so much.

Runrig!!! You have fun, I get emotional just thinking about them in concert..O'Loch Lomond their version, I love so much. That will be next Saturday, and at the Castle, sheer emotion and atmosphere.

leslie:Looking carefully always delights whatever it might be and these flowers are a treat.
mountainear:I grew them as a child too and just fancied some vibrant colour so plumped for these.
sienna: Oh Pam I am so looking forward to my trip to Edinburgh and
to the castle and the RUNRIG concert. Just hope it doesn't rain but then it well might and who cares? Not us it will be such a great bash whatever the weather.
welshcakes: Thanks for the kimd comments.
