TUESDAY 26TH JUNE - WIND IN THE TREES

Yesterday when the rain had finally stopped I listened to the wind blowing through the trees.

I love this sound.

It takes me to the trees on the alm outside the wooden house where Heidi lived with her grandfather.

I have never been there but I know exactly what it sounds like.

Do you know the sound?

MONDAY 25TH JUNE - music

Had a RUNRIG evening last night. Hours of Rock. Then THE WHO from Glastonbury a good gig.

Light the candles and relax to your favourite music. Good way to spend some time.

A meal of home made pasta and chicken just superb.

A very switch off time. We all need this. Do it more often I say.

SATURDAY 23RD JUNE

Do you like watching nettles covered in raindrops being blown by the wind?

I have discovered that I do. It is what I am doing at the moment.

I feel as if I could paint the most beautiful picture but what is in my head doesn't turn out quite the same as the images on paper. But I shall do the blobs anyway. So I am off to try.

FRIDAY 22ND JUNE

GLASTONBURY - glastonbury, glastonbury!! All weekend.

Not really there but will have it on the Radio all the time - GREAT.
+ I will be cosy and I won't have mud up to my ears.
- I won't experience the Glastonbury atmosphere.

BUT I will get most of the music.

THURSDAY 21ST JUNE - MIDSUMMER DAY

Don't you hate it when someone in the cinema opens noisy sweets or crisps near you?

I went to see ZODIAC last evening at my local cinema and that was exactly what happened.

There was murder on the screen and because of my patient nature there was only peace and calm amongst the audience but should it happen again ( which undoubtedly it will) who knows?

Oh and I ate a whole big bag of Maltesers and they are not noisy if you melt them in your mouth rather than crunch them whole.

WEDNESDAY 20TH JUNE - almost midsummer

It is midsummer tomorrow.

It rained all night and blew very hard so that the wind whistled around the corners of the house.

Today I am trying to decide which jumper to wear or move to a county with a more reliable climate.

Meanwhile a hot chocolate drink for comfort and heat.

TUESDAY 19TH JUNE - PIZZA

We recycle everything.
Cardboard into a box in the kitchen before the garage then to the roadside. We had take-away pizza on Sunday evening and the uneaten went into the fridge for the next day.

I looked for it on the next day as I had the hungry pangs but no sign so I assumed that someone had beaten me to it.
I asked in the evening but no-one had eaten pizza.
We pondered as to where it was and the only possibility was that it must have gone into the recycle box.
Yes there it was waiting to be recycled. It was rescued, heated up and enjoyed - good recyling well at least it wasn't wasted. Tasted okay too.

Recycling is good but so is pizza.

MONDAY 18TH JUNE

It rained last night until this morning and it has just stopped. Everywhere is very wet but not flooded here.

We enjoyed a barbeque on Saturday evening as the weather was glorious. So we ate and drank until we were in a merry mood not too much just enough to glow gently. We were kept company by chorusing pheasants in the fields beyond and in the garden by a female blackbird who insists on joining in. As the dark fell along came the pipistrelle bats. Oh and the sunset was stunning a long glow of orange turning red as the sun disappeared behind the horizon.

What a relaxing way to spend the evening. The best? well perhaps but definitely a very good way to pass some hours.

We haven't watched TV for about 2 months life is better without it don't you think? Certainly in the summer. We get the essential news from the radio.

SATURDAY 16TH JUNE - Trouser trouble.

I went to get another pair of trousers.

I bought a pair a couple of weeks ago they are a perfect fit well as nearly perfect as a pair of sport trousers can be so this afternoon I went to get another pair.

This is where the problem began as there were long leg size 16, lots of pairs in size 12 and 16 short leg and regular in size 16 and 12 but only one pair size 14 and they were short leg and guess what I am size 14 regular leg? Do you still follow the problem?
So I bought a different pair in another style.
What a disappointing afternoon.

I didn't get anything positive from this very tiny bit of retail therapy but then the best kind of retail therapy is books, music and chocolate cake but then the trousers won't fit..............

FRIDAY 15TH JUNE - fabulous salad.

Went to The Glass House for lunch and enjoyed a brilliant Mozarella and tomato salad accompanied by apple juice. Good dressing too. Then a bike ride in lovely June sunshine along the edge of the Camel estuary. All the people we met were smiling and happy. It was lovely. When everyone smiles the world can only be a better place so smile at someone today........and everyday.

Wednesday 13th June - honey

Big slices of buttered toast this morning with apple juice for breakfast - mmmmm!
Find some honey to add to the feast next time, even better.
The question is what kind of honey is best? runny or set? English or other? Well actually the best is Scottish Heather honey but also lavender honey from Toulouse, France of which I have only eaten one jar. Set honey on hot buttered toast can be considered 'food of the Gods'.

Tuesday 12th June

It is so hot today.
I am sitting in front of the keyboard dreaming of ice-cream big swirly cornets with chocolate sauce dribbling down and beginning to melt.
I will get a cool iced drink healthier and fewer calories.
I don't have any ice-cream in the freezer anyway.
