FRIDAY 7TH SEPTEMBER

I am reading The Spirit Wrestlers by Philip Marsden.

Incredible people discovered and talked to in the old Russia. These people I am reading about are the Molokans in who live in the Caucasus mountains. They are known as the "old believers."
This is a closed society who can be considered as the Russian equvalent of the Armish in America. www.armeniapedia.com

I am very interested in minority peoples and I had never heard of Molokans and can't wait to find out more.

I read lots but although fiction has its place a book with "meat" is far more satisfying.

Have you got any suggestions?

Me too, (love the minority cultures), I was over at Heartsinsanfrancisco's blog, *Guilty with an explanation*, reading her post about the folklore buffalo of Native American Indian people, the Lakota.

It's all specialised writings, (minority people)...and the strangest thing is when you get the chance to research or read about them there is some mindblowing significance that they have contributed to our world, some we are aware of, some I am still so ignorant about. ..and it's always deep!

Your friend is wise to be travelling to Oz before the heat kicks in...we had APEC up in Sydney last week, a lot of the city was closed off and disrupted...I felt so sorry for the tourists who may have been on their once in a lifetime trip...

My friend in California is coming over here next year....she only has 10 days and there is such a contrast of our country to try and show her...the outback desert, rural aspects, the rain forests, the sea, the tropical stuff, the Great Barrier Reef! She has set her heart on the Great Barrier Reef....wise choice :)
