MONDAY 1ST OCTOBER - grey seaside day

It was grey, it was windy and still the Brits go in the sea. Surfing well bodyboarding, swimming and wind surfing right across the bay.
There were plenty of folk walking above the strand line well wrapped against the strong westerly wind.
This is Gyllingvase beach.

Such an achingly beautiful photo....what is it about the sea that draws people, one of my favorite bits of sea poetry:

Poetry of Edna St. Vincent Millay
Second April

EXILED

Searching my heart for its true sorrow,
This is the thing I find to be:
That I am weary of words and people,
Sick of the city, wanting the sea;

Wanting the sticky, salty sweetness
Of the strong wind and shattered spray;
Wanting the loud sound and the soft sound
Of the big surf that breaks all day

I couldn't really apply that little bit of verse to our warm tropical Aussie oceans, but it seems to fit so well parts of Cornwall. I admire the determined sea goers! (Ha, gamer than I would be)

I love to by by the sea. I read the poem and its words sum up the feeing of all folks who are not as lucky as me. I must remember this. Oh I was by the sea in a different place yesterday. It has such a draw. New photos on todays post.
